
European-Turkish Network For Democracy and Civil Society
The main goal of this project is to develop the capacity of HR CSOs in Turkey and in Europe to: (1) act in a more horizontal and collaborative way, (2) foster international solidarity and (3) put pressure on international policy makers with the aim of strengthening democracy, human rights and the rule of law.
The project is being implemented in partnership with Hafiza Merkezi and HMB with the support of Stiftung Mercator and Civil Rights Defenders.
Within the course of the project,
- Research will be conducted on the needs and requirements of international actors following civil society in Turkey and in Europe concerning international advocacy;
- Advocacy training will be conducted for increasing the capacity of human rights defenders from Turkey, who have the experience and the willingness to engage in the wider international network.
- Workshops will be organized to bring HR CSOs from Turkey and European countries together for exchange and to develop policy recommendations with a comparative perspective.
- Public events will be organised, to discuss the experience of civil society in Turkey and beyond with a comparative perspective.
The project team consists of Özlem Kaya, Özgür Sevgi Göral and Leonie Hopgood.
